The communications company Bassat & Ogilvy, was commissioned by the City Council of Palma,
to carry out a campaign to explain to citizens the implementation of the streetcar in the city.
In turn, the production company 023 content & media, was responsible for the development of a video explaining the advantages of the urban operation.
We had to create the illusion of the tramway integrated into the city.
We opted to make a “fake” video montage.
Prior to the final realization of the sequences in the final locations, we decided to test their plausibility in any environment.
We even recreated the three-dimensional growth of the scene elements as a test.
We had to check if the lighting was credible in relation to the background photo. This sequence has no post-production whatsoever.
Based on several photographs of each of the existing environments, we incorporated the streetcar in movement on them.
We also animated all the elements of the scene that allowed us to give more verisimilitude to the animation. So, apart from the streetcar, we also incorporated people and cars in movement, traffic lights, trees and water subtly moved by the breeze.
In addition to the necessary C4D editing to generate the fictitious 3D scenery from the 2D photo, numerous layers had to be post-produced to create masks. As can be seen in some of the sequences, for example, trees that should appear in front of the moving streetcar “exist”.
The end result was convincing enough.
